LONG LIVE THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF PERU

Communist Party of Equator – Red Sun

Comrades, the contradictions will accumulate but we will handle them. We have learned to handle history, the laws and contradictions. It is in our hands to resolve them, shaping them with armed deeds. Nothing will stop us. We will pass through times of irreversible war, the contradiction will unfold, it will take us to a successful conclusion.2

— Chairman Gonzalo

The capture of Chairman Gonzalo and other members of the Central Committee of the PCP in 1992 brought with it a severe crisis that determined that the People’s War in Peru would experience a “bend”.

Confronting this moment of the war was as categorical as making the decision in 1980 to initiate the Armed Struggle (ILA). However, today the “bend” has dragged two important sectors that once formed the PCP to walk the road of capitulation known as the ROL, or Right Opportunist Line, and the Left Opportunist Line, which at the moment of the assessment let us see that they are hard blows that the People’s War is experiencing but which in no way constitute a major obstacle for comrades consistent with the strategic objectives that were raised in the ILA to continue raising the banners of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism exposed as the People’s War and New Democracy.

Stalin rightly said:

It should not be forgotten that Rights and “ultra-Lefts” are actually twins, that consequently both take an opportunist stand, the difference between them being that whereas the Rights do not always conceal their opportunism, the Lefts invariably camouflage their opportunism with “revolutionary” phrases.3

The decision of MODAVEF to take the electoral road as a political strategy is not really what is relevant in this movement, on the contrary, its political and ideological positions of promoting the right opportunist line, dragging some militants of the PCP to support proposals such as “seeking a political solution to the problems derived from the war”, and using this euphemism to openly deny and reject the People’s War and disdain the fundamental principles of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism is what is central. To participate in bourgeois democracy turns out to be the corollary and the “death” card of a current that has become bourgeois, whose infamy worked already many years ago marks the final point of the opportunist set.

Now they are fighting to be one more actor in the circus-like bourgeois electoral spectacle. Without concealment, without masks, they show themselves as they are: capitulators and traitors of the Revolution in Peru, the weakness of these wretches they want to show as a strategic turn in political and ideological terms. And we agree with the comrades of the PCP, we must fight them in all their expressions and by all means.

But that is one aspect of opportunism. There is the other, the one led by Artemio from the same premise of “seeking a political solution to the conflict” but trying under pressure of violence to summon or force the old state to sit down at the negotiating table. This is another aspect of opportunism that does not differ at all with the ROL.

José, Alipio, and Raúl, leaders of the Militarized Communist Party of Peru, standard bearers of the Left Opportunist Line, are also expressions of the crisis generated in 1992 and who had neither the political criteria nor the ideological fortitude to overcome it in order to give continuity to the People’s War and the New-Democratic revolution.

But comrades, that is the class struggle, that is the People’s War, thus, with all its setbacks, with groups of traitors who seek to undermine the effort of the class and its allies, with those who seek to divert the correct path of the objectives. The deserters, all these who are the result of the ideological infiltration of the bourgeoisie in the ranks of the revolution. But there are also and preponderantly the “others”, those who remain ready, willing and firm in the final objective. It would be wrong to think that the People’s War is a unidirectional historical event, that within it there is no class struggle, that there are no divergences or contradictions at antagonistic extremes. It has been happening for years in Peru. Now we are living it in Nepal and let us not doubt comrades that tomorrow we will live it again in any place of the planet, the important thing is always that the correct line prevails as the way and instrument of the final triumph, it will prevail! We do not doubt that, the international proletariat is conscious of this objective reality.

The Communist Party of Equator Red-Sun, salutes the combative and uncompromising effort of the comrades of the Communist Party of Peru: PCP-Lima Base, PCP-People’s Peasant Movement of Huallaga Base, PCP-Red Mantaro and other bases that continue to raise the red banners of Maoism, of the People’s War and that still continue to assume Gonzalo Thought as a support for strategic guidance.

As long as the efforts of the comrades are directed around the objectives of the class, the international proletariat will be ready to manifest its deepest respect and support to their vital efforts. Let us remember comrades, the important thing is ideology and whoever wields it is inevitably worthy of assaulting the heavens.

We can maintain that the People’s War in Peru is experiencing important moments. True, opportunism and revisionism are there and are struggling to get down on their knees before imperialism and the bourgeoisie. But these are also decisive moments because the demarcation has been decreed in a forceful manner! Those who wanted to go down the ravine are doing well, they have collaborated so that the Party is purified and let us not doubt, thus it is stronger, more objective, more victorious. This is the lesson that we must rescue.

Lenin expressed it in a better way:

We are marching in a compact group along a precipitous and difficult path, firmly holding each other by the hand. We are surrounded on all sides by enemies, and we have to advance almost constantly under their fire. We have combined, by a freely adopted decision, for the purpose of fighting the enemy, and not of retreating into the neighbouring marsh, the inhabitants of which, from the very outset, have reproached us with having separated ourselves into an exclusive group and with having chosen the path of struggle instead of the path of conciliation. And now some among us begin to cry out: Let us go into the marsh! And when we begin to shame them, they retort: What backward people you are! Are you not ashamed to deny us the liberty to invite you to take a better road! Oh, yes, gentlemen! You are free not only to invite us, but to go yourselves wherever you will, even into the marsh. In fact, we think that the marsh is your proper place, and we are prepared to render you every assistance to get there. Only let go of our hands, don’t clutch at us and don’t besmirch the grand word freedom, for we too are “free” to go where we please, free to fight not only against the marsh, but also against those who are turning towards the marsh!4

Those who have rallied around MODAVEF, Artemio, or the militarized PCP have done the right thing, they have taken the road and entered the marsh. The others, us, still have much to do, we must conquer and build the New Power. We must not lose that perspective of the struggle: POWER, in the end, we are condemned by history to materialize it.
