There are peoples who manage to develop a deep conviction about its role in history. They recognize themselves as the makers of its own destiny, the clearest and most sensitive protagonists in the transformations of societies. Palestine, and in particular the Gazan people, is one of those peoples who put before themselves the supreme sacrifice of giving their lives to defend its sovereignty. In this struggle, they safeguard its dignity and its right to forge a future in the course of a history that must be written by its own inhabitants, even in the midst of their contradictions.
Israel and Hamas have reached a cease-fire after 15 hard months of a disproportionate war, where, definitely, the winner has been the one who has neither spared nor saved blood to achieve its purposes.
Throughout history, wars have been bloody. In fact, the technology deployed by the West seeks to do just that: cause the most physical damage, and we are not just talking about people and other living things, but also infrastructure.
Gaza is a clear example of this. The United States, Israel, Canada, Germany, France, and other countries, all nuclear and military powers, have intervened against the Gazan people, who have hardly any RPGs, rifles, and explosives. They have no planes, helicopters, tanks, torpedo boats. or any comparable war equipment. They are supported only by historical reason, based on its right to be and to exist, like any other people deeply rooted in the entrails of its territory.
True, it might seem like a Pyrrhic victory for the Palestinians. Nearly 50,000 dead. On the Israeli side, too, it cannot be said that they “came out unscathed”; they have also mourned thousands of their dead. However, the fact that the Palestinians continue to dwell, even in the rubble of Gaza, shows that resistance transcends the number of dead and the sacrifice required to hold on to a territory that belongs to them and which, abusively, for more than 70 years, has been the object of attempts at usurpation by the criminal greed of Zionism.
Gaza, Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, and other oppressed peoples of the world have achieved a victory in Gaza. To those thousands of martyrs we owe the pride and certainty that resistance against U.S. imperialism and criminal Zionism is a real possibility, as long as we have the courage to make the supreme sacrifice and the determination to conquer the heights.
In the historical memory of the peoples of the world there will remain not only the heroic victories of the Palestinian people; there remains much more: a trace, a trail, a path. It is the one marked by those who, with courage, have defended its right to self-determination and to a dignified existence.
The Communist Party of Ecuador - Red Sun salutes the victory of the Palestinian people over imperialism and Zionism. Likewise, it recognizes in their martyrs a valuable contribution to the struggle for the national liberation of all the peoples of the world who face any form of oppression. There is no doubt: THEY WILL LIVE ON IN THE HEART AND IN THE STRUGGLES OF THE OPPRESSED PEOPLES OF THE WORLD!
