Proletarians of all countries, unite!
LONG LIVE THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DAY OF HEROISM!1
Every year on June 19, the Day of Heroism is celebrated in Peru and around the world. It was established as the International Day of Revolutionary Political Prisoners and Prisoners of War.
On June 19, communists and revolutionaries in the entire world celebrate this date, commemorating the rebellion 40 years ago by prisoners of war of the Communist Party of Peru. They rose up in defense of the revolution and their own lives against reaction’s plans to annihilate them and deal a well-aimed blow to the people’s war.
On this occasion of great historical significance for the communists and the masses of Peru and the world, as a token of our tribute and commitment, we are republishing the Resolution of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Peru, which designates June 19 as the Day of Heroism, Peru, June 1986.
On this day, we wish to share with our comrades in Peru and around the world the closing remarks delivered by Chairman Gonzalo in “Homage to the Heroes of the People” at the First Congress of the Communist Party of Peru (1988), in which the Party solemnly pledges never to lay down its arms until communism. We quote:
“We gather up those lives, that example, that blood (heroically shed by the heroes of the people) and we enter them into our own flesh, that it ignites our own mind and tightens our will more and more, so that that road opened with an effort never seen here and that will be the astonishment of the centuries, be the road that we continue until we fulfill that task in which they were engaged. The best homage we can pay them and we are paying them today is to persist on that road, on that course and we will not stop, comrades, as a Party, as a class, as masses, we will not stop together with the international proletariat, together with the Communist Parties and the immense masses of the people of the world, and we will not stop until communism. Let that be the serious commitment that we assume today, once again, in this Congress in homage to the heroes of the people.”
Like that of all these heroes, the glorious, belligerent death of the prisoners of war on June 19, 1986, is sheltered by the blood already shed and before it the communists, the combatants and the sons of the people, armed, we assume the indeclinable commitment to follow their luminous example, to develop the people’s war to serve the world revolution until the unfading light of communism settles throughout the world under the undefeated banners of Marx, Lenin, and Mao Tsetung, of the ever-living Marxism-Leninism-Maoism.
Glory to the fallen heroes, long live the revolution!

Following the path of its predecessor, the reactionary Aprista government from the beginning applied genocide against the people’s war, covering it with high-flown demagogy with the complicit support of electoral opportunism as evidenced by Aqomarca, Umaru, Bellavista, and Llocllapampa; crimes perpetrated by the armed forces and police of the Peruvian State.
Reaction sinisterly targeted the prisoners of war, planning their genocidal annihilation, which materialized on October 4 of last year in the cowardly and brutal murder of thirty combatants in the Lurigancho prison; a nefarious crime also unpunished that only the victorious people will punish.
On June eighteenth, eighteen thousand nine hundred and eighty-six prisoners of war in El Frontón, Lurigancho, and Callao rose up in rebellion against the new genocide in progress, after publicly denouncing, before the courts and authorities themselves, repeatedly, the butchery that the government and its armed forces were plotting; they rebelled in defense of the revolution and their lives, demanding twenty-six very fair and rational demands.
On the nineteenth, the reactionary Aprista government headed by Alan García, after its grotesque farce manipulating the so-called “Peace Commission”, unleashed the most proterious and blackest extermination operation; mobilizing the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, and the police forces, under the Joint Command, it consummated the most infamous genocide, murdering hundreds of guerrillas and sons of the people, prisoners of war, bathing once again in the burning blood of the people. May Alan García, his Council of Ministers, the Joint Command, the armed forces, and the police fall upon the unforgettable disgrace that the people will not forget and that only he will sanction!
The fighters of the People’s Guerrilla Army, prisoners of war, under the banner “It is right to rebel” fought heroically and bravely, sealing a milestone of heroism, courage, and bravery that history will keep as an exemplary demonstration of the heroic men that only the people’s war is capable of generating.
Thus, the nineteenth of June is stamped imperishable as the DAY OF HEROISM, the blood of these heroes already fructifies the armed revolution setting it on fire more, rising as monumental tremolante flag and inexhaustible war cry that summons to the inevitable final triumph.
The glorious belligerent death of these prisoners of war is sheltered by the blood already shed and before it the communists, the combatants and the sons of the people, armed, we assume the indeclinable commitment to follow their luminous example, to develop the people’s war to serve the world revolution until the unfading light of communism settles throughout the world under the undefeated banners of Marx, Lenin, and Mao Tsetung, of the ever-living Marxism-Leninism-Maoism.
Glory to the fallen heroes, long live the revolution!
